Money Back Guarantee

Money Back Guarantee Program: HB 1507 creates s. 1011.803, F.S., to require each school district and FCS institution to create a money-back guarantee program, for a minimum of three programs, that will refund tuition to students who are unable to find employment in their field of study within six months of completion of certain workforce education programs.

The School District of Lee County is committed to offering a tuition money-back guarantee to eligible graduates in Practical Nursing, Electronic Technology, and Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer who are not able to find employment in their field of study within six months of completion. The money-back guarantee is for tuition only and does not include any other costs associated with participation in the Postsecondary Career and Technical Education program including but not limited to lab fees, testing fees, supplies or materials.

To be eligible to apply for the tuition money-back guarantee, the graduate must meet the following school requirements:

  • Tuition must have been self-paid. Tuition paid by the Pell Grant, CareerSource, Vocational Rehabilitation or any other third-party, including scholarships and sponsorships, are not eligible for a refund.
  • Students must be available to work and not be enrolled in another workforce program or continuing their education at a different school.
  • Students must have no outstanding financial obligations to the school.
  • Students must participate in at least one internship or work-study experience related to the program.
  • Students must provide evidence of at least thirty (30) job search company applications related to the occupation(s) associated with their program of study.
  • Students must provide evidence of completing at least ten (10) good faith interviews for jobs related to their program of study (e.g., documents such as an email or letter of invitation to interview, confirmation of non-selection etc.)
  • Students must schedule and attend a meeting with their school’s Career Specialist if they are not employed three months after graduation.
    • Students must submit the Money-Back Guarantee Application with supporting documentation no later than one year from their date of graduation.

Program Specific Requirements:

  • Practical Nursing (CCTC and FMTC)
    • Attend 95% or more scheduled hours for the entirety of the program.
    • Earn an 80% or higher in all courses.
    • Attend at least one career fair hosted by the school of enrollment.
    • Achieve a 92% on the ATI Predictor or obtain a “green light” from an ATI tutor if a 92% was not achieved.
    • Pass the Board of Nursing NCLEX Exam.
    • Have a resume on file.
    • Attend all interviews scheduled by the school.
  • Electronic Technology (CCTC and FMTC)
    • Attend 90% or more scheduled hours for the entirety of the program.
    • Earn a 75% or higher in all courses.
    • Attend at least one career fair hosted by the school of enrollment.
    • Pass at least one industry specific certification exam (CETa, ESA, ISCET, ISCET 002).
    • Have a resume on file.
    • Attend all interviews scheduled by the school.
  • Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer (SWFPSA)
    • Attend 90% or more scheduled hours for the entirety of the program.
    • Earn an 80% or higher in all courses.
    • Pass the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Exam.
    • Have a resume on file.
    • Attend all interviews scheduled by the school.
