Program Overview
Students learn skills such as installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and industrial environments. This includes mastering refrigeration cycles, ductwork, and electrical motor wiring, as well as developing the ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, compressors, valves, and both electromechanical and digital control systems.
Additional training includes blueprint reading, the use of technical reference manuals, and the application of wireless Bluetooth technology in diagnostic testing. This program stresses safety practices, environmental management systems, and the underlying principles of heat transfer, chemistry, and thermodynamics. Students develop the higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills necessary for professional success in the Architecture and Construction career cluster.
Industry Certifications
- Students prepare for industry-recognized Industry Certifications from the ESCO Institute (HVAC Excellence)
- Are required to obtain EPA Certification for the safe handling of refrigerants prior to graduation.
