Homeless Student Information

What is the definition of homeless?

For the purpose of the fee exemption, Florida law defines homelessness as, “as an individual who is 16 or older and is “not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian, including a youth who
has run away from home, who has been forced to leave his or her home, or whose parents have left the area and left the youth behind.”

What are the Homeless and Department of Children and Families (DCF) Fee Exemptions?

According to Florida law, a student who is homeless and/or who were in DCF custody, adopted, in a relative’s custody or placed in court guardianship may be exempted from paying any tuition and fees at a workforce education system.
